I take the Foreign Service Exam tomorrow, any last minute advice?

I take the exam at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow. I've studied for it. I've prepared for it. I've read a lot of books. I feel good about it, but I would like to hear any last minute tips you might have.

For example: what is the order of the test (general knowledge first, writing first, etc..?)

I plan to review a few broad concepts in the morning, should I do something else?

Is there a timer on the screen that let's me know how much time is left?

Any recommendation on what I should wear?

Any other information about the test format you have or test taking strategies you would like to share would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I have never taken that test, so first of all -- wish you all the best.

just in case, bring your own watch

get a great sleep

do not study in the morning, but do read something to warm up

wear something you are comfortable in, something that's clean and nice looking. dress in layers, so that you could adjust to the room temperature (that's just a suggestion, taken from personal experience).

Strategies?.. hmm.. Pray :)

Student lawn care service, would someone give me some advice?

Hi there,

With spring here and summer fast approaching I was thinking about starting a simple lawn care service in my neighborhood.

I already have my own lawn mower and edge trimmer so I won't need to buy any of that.

What I would like to know is how much I should charge. I want to charge a relatively cheap price, as I am a student, but still make some money.

I was thinking a certain price for:

Small Lawn: ???

Middle Sized Lawn: ???

Large Lawn: ???

Weed Lawn: ???

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!Student lawn care service, would someone give me some advice?
I would charge by the size of the yard, not by the hour as if you are efficient you can knock them out quickly. I think the going rate in my neighborhood is around $35 (I charge $2 when I was a kid). Single women are the best ones to approach but you will have a hard time getting new business now that the season has started, many people will have already hired someone. Do a good job and you can charge a premium, trim, don't leave grass on the driveway or walk and ask if they are satisfied with your work of if they would give you some advice how to improve it.

People don't mind paying a little more for good service. You may also want to look into dethatching yards. You could line up a few houses and rent a machine. You can charge big bucks for that but you will have to get rid of all the thatch you pull up, not an easy thing to dispose of.Student lawn care service, would someone give me some advice?
you should charge by the hour and for senior citizens give them a discount i have started a lawn service myself and i have found that the easiest way rather then charge by the yard i go 15 dollars an hour and seniors 10 dollars an hour...this way it counts for the labor and the fuel..

I would like some advice i was misquoted on a service for my car and am being threatened?

When I asked about a service for my 2 year old Renault Clio I was quoted 拢120- 拢150, however when I went to pick the car up the bill was 拢250 as the (to quote) ';parts on the car were difficult to get to';. I paid the first 拢150 as this was the maximum cast he had quoted me. I now owe him 拢100 he says but I can not afford (and don't want to) pay it as I don't think this is fair and very unprofessional and bad working practice. When I asked Renault what a service would have cost with them they said 拢200 which I would rather have had done with the manufacturer if I would have known it would be that much. Please give me some advice as he now is saying if I don't pay he will have to remove the parts from my car, thanks very muchI would like some advice i was misquoted on a service for my car and am being threatened?
If your quote was only verbal not written, there's not a whole lot you'll be able to do about it. However, for a written quote, they have to get approval from the owner of the car (you) to do work that exceeds their price quote. This approval then needs to be noted, dated, and signed (by the person obtaining your approval) on their work order. Because they failed to do so, you are not responsible for anything above the quoted price. As to whether or not they'll release the car to you with the parts still attached, you might want to see a lawyer about that.I would like some advice i was misquoted on a service for my car and am being threatened?
Then you tell him you will sue him for quoting you one price and charging another!!!

Can anyone give me advice about using an online dating service to meet women?

I'm having a tough time knowing if any of the girls I'm talking to online--I'm using eHarmony-- are really serious or not. I may be rushing things too. Initially, there seems to be interest then, after about a week, I usually ask for their phone number, and or AIM screen name, and I don't end up hearing from them again, and I usually either give up or email again, and after that no reply.

Is there some formula or unwritten rule that you can follow to tell if a girl really likes you in an online dating site? I also seem to blow it by being in a rush, how can i come off as not clingy, but interested too?Can anyone give me advice about using an online dating service to meet women?
most girls especcialy online think that you may be not worth there time or some kind of creeper (no offense) if you ask for their # so fast. Try not to rush it and the right girl wil come to you. There isnt a rule but to be yourself ! =] good luck !Can anyone give me advice about using an online dating service to meet women?
It's touchy.....I rush into it as well because i dont want to spend countless, day, weeks, months chatting over eharmony, match, plentyoffish email....it's stupid.

Not only that but you don't really get the feel for a person.

I need answers on this as well.

Good luck to you

Thanks for your answer to mine !!
i don't think there is but its probably best to wait more than a week before asking for their number

i come off as clingy too, its not a bad thing, it just shows that you want more than just a fling x
I guess you need to let them make that move. That would make me uncomfortable if a guy that I met online asked for my number and its only been about a week. You should probably give it more time.
Dont try to meet people off those dating sites. I know 2 women that get on there and all they do is meet the guy get bang banged and never hear from the guy again and they like it that way cuz they're 'loose'. So I guess what Im saying is if you wanna meet a woman to marry the internet is not the right place. Most of the people on those sites want one thing- some nookie. Same thing with myspace. If you wanna try these sites still just talk to the girl and just ask her if she would like to meet or talk on the phone after a few days of chatting. I dont know why they'd be scared away after all they are there to meet a mate so if they seem flakey, which most of those people are, just back off and find one thats not psycho. I reccomend going with some friends to a club or see if they have the match making things like on 40 year old virgin where you go meet singles and stuff in your town...
Ok, heres the thing. Im not sure about Eharmony, but my cousin works for another large dating site. I wont name names, but its another one you have to pay for. Her job is, get this, talking to people (yes girls too) and pretending to be interested. She sends them emails and answers theirs, but as soon as a number, alternate email address, or a messenger screen name is asked for, she has to back off. She told me there are even times when she creates a new profile and talks to the same men. Like I said, I cant say whether eharmony does this or not, but what you are describing sounds exactly like what she does. Here are some free websites----www.plentyoffish.com and www.bookofmatches.com. Good luck

My car was damaged while being towed but the towing service denies causing said damage...advice?

The car was locked and in gear and the e-brake engaged (i drive manual) and when i arrived at the impound lot my drivers side lock was GONE the stick was left in neutral and the e-brake was not engaged as i had left it. My car is no longer able to be locked, can i make the towing company pay for the damages, or can they be held responsible if my car is stolen due to its now lock-less drivers side door?My car was damaged while being towed but the towing service denies causing said damage...advice?
Good luck. They can say that's the condition it was in when they impounded it. Good luck proving it in a court of law. Why was the car impounded? My car was damaged while being towed but the towing service denies causing said damage...advice?
May be hard to prove , but talk to a lawyer . Never hurts to talk . The worst thing he can say is - no chance

  • I would like to start a youth service at my church...any advice?

I'm only 16 years old and I think I have some great ideas to get a youth service going but my church is super small with only a few kids so I was thinking about talking to my friends about starting our own service once a week or every other week and making it open to kids all over my city.....I feel that this is really bold and I'm a bit scared and don't know where to start but feel like I have to do this.....Any help?I would like to start a youth service at my church...any advice?
Please don't brainwash kids with that non-sense. It's ridiculous. please open a youth center for less fortunate kids. That's worth it and I promise that I will greatly respect you for doing so.

If you open a church, you'll be only spreading a lie to kids and make more kids dumb ... this is the worst thing you can ever do. Please don't do that ... for the humanity's sakeI would like to start a youth service at my church...any advice?
Teach others the beginnings of your religion. See: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vm_wh-84鈥?/a>
Talk to your pastor and get the official backing of your church.
    1. Find some other kids that would be interested; get a commitment.

    2. Contact your pastor %26amp; set up a time to talk to him (make sure you schedule something)

    3. Go with 1-2 of your interested friends and ask for his help.

    4. Find an adult to mentor the group, you just need a volunteer. Ask your pastor for a recommendation of someone to approach, or if he thinks it would be a good idea to make an announcement. A good pastor will be excited about youth wanting to do more. But just to be warned: An experienced pastor may be skeptical of your commitment. Expect this so it doesn't blindside you and hurt you.

    5. If you don't get any help from your pastor and can't find a mentor, just do it yourselves.

Get a study guide and just do it. There are TONS of good study guides %26amp; devotional series out there, and you will be the best judge of what you and your friends would be interested in. If you need some ideas, contact me via the messaging system here and I'll check my bookshelf at home, I have a bunch of old ones to give you some ideas, I just can't recall the titles right now.

    1 Tim 4:12 ';Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.';

Don't let the people here get you down, but don't feel sorry for them either. Just leave them be and don't expect them to pay you the same courtesy. That way you won't be disappointed.
