Do anybody have any advice on starting your own home based cleaning service? what are the steps?

Go to http://www.score.org/ to find the nearest SCORE chapter. In the upper left hand corner is a box to enter your zip code. Your nearest SCORE chapter will be on the next screen. Contact them to arrange for a free one on one meeting with a SCORE counselor about starting a cleaning service.





SCORE is a nonprofit organization. They provide a public service by offering small business advice and training.





SCORE's 10,500 volunteers have more than 600 business skills. Volunteers share their wisdom and lessons learned in business. Other than that, I would say -





Make sure you incorporate to protect your own liability.


Make sure you talk to an insurance agent and get your self insured (and bonded if necessary).


Go to a site like Vistaprint.com and get some business cards or just print flyers from your computer.
Research, research, research.





How many cleaning companies in your area? How many people living in your area use a cleaning service? How many businesses in your area? Do they use a janitorial service?





What are the other services charging? What are they paying their employees? Are they always running help wanted ads? If yes, is it because it's hard to find workers? High turnover?





Write business plan and then write a marketing plan and determine if this business will make you money or not before you spend any money.
