I've applied to prison service but need some advice?

i've had my mathematics test online and am waiting for next stage, what else is involved in the recruitment process and how hard is it to get in? i'm in ukI've applied to prison service but need some advice?
Hiya,

After you have completed the online test (POST), you will receive your results via email usually in 7 days unless they have a back log!

If you are sucessful at this stage, they then invite you to attend an Recruitment assessment day (RAD), formerly known as the JSAC. During the assessment day you will take part in 4 x 10 min role play scenario's, a briefing of what to expect on the day, medical and interview. If successful after this you will then be invited to go onto do the fitness where you have to complete various tasks including the shuttle run.

If after all of this you pass, the CRB checks are then done, referees contacted and you will be offered a place on the training course which is week 1 in the establishment, weeks 2, 3 %26amp; 4 at newbold revel or a local training centre to you, week 5 back at your establishment and then weeks 6, 7 %26amp; 8 back at the training centre then you go live!!!!I've applied to prison service but need some advice?
It is pretty easy to get in considering no one wants to work with the convicts and the dangers it pose to women prison officers and/or wardens.

good luck and let us know how you are getting on when you are in the position for about 3 months.
you have to be good with keys apparently ....................
What ever you do dont forget your keys
you have to take part in mock situations at a central base in england. you have to balance assertiveness with fairness and anger. many fail on this point. they think they have to be overley fair. when in fact you should ensure you are clear and in control without being disrespectful, racist, bullying or too authoritive or weak. The prison service officers are highly professional those who dont succceed do so because they underestimate the people management skils required. I have 34 year experiance in HMP and have yet to see a visitor fail to admire the excellent work from all staff. They always finish their visit with the oposite view to that which they entered the prison. If you think it is about ';keys'; then dont bother applying.

why do you think there are very few problems in our prisons yet we hold more prisoners than ever. The answer is the very high professional standards of all staff. No television drama has accurately portrayed the work in prisons.
Don't, - it was the worst job I ever had. So negative, but I guess someone has to do it. There are better ways to keep the wolf from the door.
To get into prison you have to be bad, like crime and stuff like that. I think you gotta do it. Some people get in without doing crime, but that usually has to do with people being mad about then riding in the HOV lane without a passenger or something like that. Don't worry, all bad people end up in prison, so just keep being bad.
